In Reading Libraries we aim to provide a wide range of Fiction for all members
of the community. We want the diversity of our stock and displays to reflect the
diversity in our community. There is something for everybody at Reading Libraries.
We also have a large reserve fiction collection that includes many old
favourites. So if you can’t find what you are looking for on the open shelves,
check the Library Catalogue or ask a member of staff!
To view our latest additions to stock, look at the NEW
TITLES section on the Library Catalogue. This list is updated monthly.
Reading Central Library
Fiction at Reading Library is on the Ground Floor, and is arranged in two ways:
- an A-Z general fiction sequence, including Classics. This sequence flows around
the outside wall.
- genre fiction is arranged in separate bays, which are located not far from the
counter and front door.
Reading Branch Libraries
Reading Borough has seven libraries in total, and all branch libraries have a fiction
collection. As well as a permanent collection, there are Circulating Collections that
rotate around the branches to provide a greater choice for our readers.
In each branch, there is an A-Z General Fiction sequence. The main genres
that are housed separately are –
Science Fiction & Fantasy
Crime
Romance
Westerns
All genre fiction is spotted in the same way that Reading books are and a
guide to genre fiction can be found in each library.
