Book Groups

Do you enjoy reading and talking about books? The library keeps a waiting list of people who would like to join a reading group and runs regular workshops to help people who want to start a group.

Existing Library Book Groups

Reading Libraries run several book groups. For more details of when and where these meet see further down this page.

Reading Library Book Group Sets Service

If you would like to start your own book group, we can help by providing information on how to do this, and by lending copies of our book group sets. This is a service especially for reading groups, to enable them to borrow up to 15 copies of any two titles for a twelve week period.

How to join

Simply choose a member of your group to be the ‘named user’ and then register with us. Please ask at Reading Central Library for further details.

What is available?

We have over 50 titles available for loan, and we welcome suggestions for new additions to the collection. Our most recent additions are The Island by Victoria Hislop, Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood and Night Watch by Sarah Waters.
Sets must be booked in advance, please ask at Reading Central Library ground floor enquiry desk or phone 0118 901 5950.
