About the Library

Tilehurst is a popular and friendly community library situated on School Road. It is easily accessible via local bus routes. Tilehurst Library has served the local community since 1960 and is renowned for enthusiastic staff involvement in its special events.

  • Books – Fiction and non-fiction books for both adults and children
  • Spoken word cassettes for adults and children
  • Music CDs
  • DVDs
  • Large print books
  • Books in other languages - French, German, Italian and Spanish
  • National and local newspapers

  • Selection of magazines including Time, Empire, Good Housekeeping, Digital Camera Essentials and Good Homes
  • Free Internet access - 6 public terminals available plus 2 for children
  • Access to the library catalogue
  • Photocopier
  • Fax
  • Study space
  • Sales – greetings cards, postcards and stamps
  • Parents and carers can join the Toy Library and reserve and collect toys at Tilehurst Library

Events

The following are free events:

  • Coffee mornings : held on the last Tuesday of each month from 10.30-12.00. Please contact Tilehurst Library for details.
  • Storytime Thursday, 2.30 - 3.00
  • Rhymetime: Monday, 9.30-10.00 and 10.45-11.15.
  • We have an annual Summer Reading Challenge run every year during school summer holidays

Tilehurst Library can be visited using bus numbers 17, 18

There is wheelchair access at the front entrance
